SAM is based on the world-renowned Singapore Math System;
a revolutionary shift in the teaching methods of maths in Singaporean schools.
As a result of a monumental change that took place in 1982 within the Singaporean education system, today Singapore students are ranked amongst the highest in the world in mathematics.
The old education system focused on procedural and computational maths which relied heavily on the student’s ability to apply memorised procedures and calculations. The Minister of Education understood that future success in maths would depend on the students’ ability to understand and apply mathematical concepts. As a result, a new world-class education system that is still used today was created.
Singapore Maths at primary school age is the most effective preparation for secondary CAPS, IEB, and Cambridge syllabi.

What is SAM? Teaching your child the ‘why’ of maths
Follow along as we lead you through our unique approach to teaching your child.
1. Award-Winning Curriculum
Based on Singapore Maths, SAM’s Award Winning Curriculum and Pedagogy is the most relevant and most comprehensive Maths enrichment program available today.
2. Classroom experience
Our qualified S.A.M trainers encourage students to discover their own solutions rather than being told what to do. Our trainers engage students with dialogue, questions, props, games and constant encouragement. We use the Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract approach to help students understand an abstract subject such as math.
- Concrete stage is the “doing” stage where children use physical objects such as manipulatives
- Pictorial stage is the “seeing” stage where children use drawings or pictures.
- Abstract stage is the “symbolic” stage where children use abstract symbols to represent math.
4. Personalised Learning Plan
We use a mathematics assessment to pinpoint the topics a child has mastered and the topics the child needs more support with. Then, we prescribed a personalized learning plan tailored to each child at their own skill level and pace, because no two children learn alike.
3. Worksheet Experience
Our worksheets engage your child individually at their own time, using real-world examples. Designed with a step-up approach your child will receive worksheets that will become steadily more difficult as they move through them.
5. Improving Problem Solving
Your child will learn to unpack difficult or complex issues in order to find solutions.

At SAM - We Are Educators First
S.A.M was founded in 2010 by Samuel Chia and Lau Chin Loong in Singapore. Recognizing the challenges faced by children in school systems with large class sizes and a one-size-fits-all approach, they ideated a learning program to help children learn math better, where the proven Singapore Math curriculum is delivered through personalised learning in small class size.
After 3 years of research and development and a successful 2013 launch in Singapore, SAM expanded rapidly into international markets, winning multiple business awards and parenting awards in various countries.
