The Breakthrough Method Used To Improve Your Child's Maths Understanding, Guaranteed!

Does your child often struggle with problem-solving due to a lack of comprehension and understanding? Our Multi-award winning Singapore Math Program focus on the known and visualisation before abstract numbers and formulas.

We are SAM or Seriously Addictive Mathematics

Our fresh, new outlook on Maths is based on the highly successful Singapore Maths Curriculum. Our enrichment program is for children aged 4 -12.

We believe that every child can master maths or develop a deep understanding of maths with the right kind of teaching and support.

Our two learning pillars give your child a unique learning experience that is designed to build confidence, greater understanding and a fun environment to learn.

1. Classroom Experience

Our qualified S.A.M trainers encourage students to discover their own solutions rather than being told what to do. Our trainers engage students with dialogue, questions, props, games and constant encouragement.

2. Worksheet Experience

Our worksheets engage your child individually at their own time, using real-world examples. Designed with a step-up approach your child will receive worksheets that will become steadily more difficult as they move through them.

How our lessons work

We customise the program to the child's level and pace. Lessons are 1 hour a week with a maximum of 6 children in a session.

Concrete Aids

Firstly, trainers will use concrete aids that explain the weeks content encouraging discussion, involvement and exploration.

Worksheets

Secondly, students start with worksheets under close supervision and complete at home.

Hand-in

The next week students hand in completed worksheets to be marked and graded.

Reports

At the end of the month/term a report will be issued with results. If not completed, students will complete additional worksheets until ready to move on.

Move On

If completed satisfactorily, students will then move on to the next lesson which gradually will get more difficult.

Can my child join?

S.A.M is an enrichment program for children aged 4 - 12.

The SAM Program allows a basic learner to have a good math foundation, average learners to learn at a high level and advanced learners to continue to be challenged!

What your child will gain:

-How to count and write numbers (for the youngest children who do not know how to yet)

-How to associate the image of a given number to the physical number of objects (one-to-one association)

-How to visualise the number line (concept of more and less)

-How to solve simple addition and subtraction problems

-The concept of more than or less than in a comparative manner

-How to identify the number missing between two given numbers

-How to identify and complete patterns with numbers, shapes, sizes, and colours

What your child will gain:

For children in grades 1 and 2, we reinforce the math concepts already being taught in the school system using the Singaporean method. We focus on problem solving through engaging your child through open dialogue. Your child will also learn through visual representations and concrete materials. This hands-on experience is essential to a child’s true understanding of fundamental math concepts.

What your child will gain:

Beginning in grade 3 through grade 6, there is a marked increase in the level of complexity of mathematical concepts (fractions, division, decimals, percentages and so on). In today’s competitive environment, simply relying on rote memorisation of procedures will not be enough to ensure your child’s future success in math.

Our lessons focus on bringing real-world interactive lessons to your child to grow their logic and critical thinking.

Why is SAM so Effective? Teaching your child the "why" of maths.

Singapore Maths System

S.A.M is based on the Singapore Maths system. Singapore Maths is reputed to be one of the most successful national programs in the world, according to the TIMSS (Trends in International Maths & Science Study) survey, since 1995.

Heuristics

We teach your child to apply different suitable methods when problem-solving. They will develop an understanding of the way they work and how to use them in different situations.

Small classes

Research has shown that children aged 12 and below learn better when they have close adult supervision and physical activities. With a maximum of 6 learners per trainer, we have one-on-one time with each child. We have concrete educational aids and encourage movement by using them in the lessons.

Step-up method

The scaffolding approach uses techniques to move your child progressively towards better understanding and increased independence in the learning process. Ensures students master each topic before moving on to the next.

Concrete Pictorial Abstract (CPA) Approach

Your child will engage in fun activities using concrete experiences to connect mathematical concepts with real-life experiences (Concrete). The second step is to relate their newfound knowledge to pictures (Pictorial) and lastly to progress to the use of numbers and formulas (Abstract).

Bar Model Method

Bar modelling is used as a visual approach to problem-solving, allowing your child the ability to understand, interpret and conceptualise word problems.

We focus on 21st Century Skills

We focus on 21st-century skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, and logical reasoning.

Number Bonds and Number Sense

Number Bonds are pictorial representations of how numbers can be broken down and reconstructed in ways that make it easy for your child to do mental math and to build a solid foundation.
